What can I design with the applications?

The BiSS Dental Software Suite is a digital toolbox for models (PRINT), milled models for telescopic work (MILLING), splints (FREEFORM), bite corrections (CONTACT), trays (TRAYS), registrations (LOCATE), data conversion (EDIT), and automatic prenesting (PUZZLE). The production of models and splints is supported by AI, offering both semi-automatic and fully automatic designs.

The software is compatible with STL, PLY, and OBJ data formats.

Can I test the software?

You can order all packages and stand-alone products as a one-month subscription to use the software for 31 days.

How much does the software cost?

Which is better: purchase or license?
  • Both options have their advantages
    • When you purchase the software, there are no license fees and the software is yours to keep. All updates within version 5 are included free of charge.
    • The advantage of a subscription is that all updates within version 5 as well as upgrades to version 6 are included. Support is also part of the subscription. If you have a defective dongle, you can have it replaced by us free of charge.
Can I purchase several stand-alone products together and combine them with packages?

Yes, you can order each stand-alone as an individual subscription or purchase and combine it with other stand-alones, including packages. For example: You have already booked the Premium Business package (PRINT, MILLING, TRAYS, LOCATE) for one year and could now add CONTACT as a stand-alone, e.g., for one month or as a purchase.

Can the software be used locally on one PC or on several?
  • With a single-user license, you can only open the software on the PC where the dongle (USB stick) is plugged in. However, this can be plugged into any number of PCs.
  • With a network license, you can plug the dongle into a server or PC that is connected to all other computers within the same network. This allows you to open the software from any connected PC. When ordering a network license, one workstation is activated, i.e., the software can only be opened once at a time. You can add any number of workstations for a one-time price of €99 net per seat. This means that the software can be opened and used multiple times simultaneously. The network license costs €10 net more per month than a single-user license (i.e., €120 net per year). As a purchase version, a network license costs a one-time fee of €349 net more than the single-user license.

Is the license automatically renewed?

  • It will say “BiSS expires in X days.”
Is the software cloud-based?

How do I start the software?
  • You will be sent a dongle (USB stick). The software can only be opened and operated with this.
  • You can now download the software free of charge at Promadent ǀBISS Double-click on the “BiSS icon” and you’re ready to go.

  • Our software specializes in so-called “aids” such as models, splints, trays, and registrations.
How do I activate my network dongle?
  • Open DinkeyServer.exe in your installation directory as an administrator. (You can find your BISS installation directory by right-clicking on your BISS shortcut and selecting “Open file location.”)
  • Under “StartupModes” on the left, select the “Windows Service” option.
  • Under “Network Configuration” on the right, select the “Automatic” option.

Will the software remind me when my license expires?
  • Yes, when you open the software, a message will appear 10-14 days before expiration, counting down like a countdown timer.
  • It will say “BiSS expires in X days.”
How do I know if there is a new software version available?
  • When a new version is available, a message will appear when you open BiSS informing you that a new version is available for download.
Can I see what has changed in the new version compared to the previous version?
  • Yes, this message also appears automatically with the notification that a new version is available. You can click on the button for the latest version to see what has changed and read through the details.
Are all updates subject to a fee?
  • No, not all of them.
  • If you are currently using version 4 and would like to update to version 5, you can purchase the BiSS update to version 5.0 BiSS Update to Version 5.0, 169,00 € and your dongle will be activated for this.

  • Your license for BiSS has expired, which is why the software can no longer be opened. You can now renew the software in our shop.
  • Go to Renewal and select your package or your stand-alone or multiple stand-alones. Please enter your dongle number and select the appropriate subscription or purchase option.
  • The dongle number can be found in the dongle packaging supplied.

Why can't the BiSS installation be completed?
  • If the message “Some files from Biss [current version] cannot be created” appears, it is because the software is still open somewhere in the background.
  • Please check this and close all windows of the BiSS software.
When opening BiSS, an error message appears (“An old installation of BiSS was found. An attempt was made to transfer the implant and attachment files...”). What can I do?
  • Right-click on the “BiSS” start icon on the desktop.
  • Open the software once as administrator.
  • If this message still appears, you must manually transfer the implant library from the old version to the new version.
  • Go to C:\Program Files\PROMADENT\Biss [old version]\implants.
  • Copy all data.
  • Go to C:\Program Files\PROMADENT\Biss [current version]\implants.
  • Paste all copied implant data.
Why was no STL file created when saving?
  • In the “Save” step, there is a difference between “Save as…” and “Export.”
  • When exporting, an STL is output and a project file (.gbs or .lfl)
  • When saving or saving as, only the project file (.gbs or .lfl) is output and no STL
Can I output PLY or OBJ instead of STL?
  • Yes, you can export one of the three or all of them at the same time.
  • To do this, open the BiSS software and click on the burger menu in the top left corner.
  • Then go to Settings and switch to the “Load & Save” tab.
  • Here you can check one or more boxes to select which file formats should be output.
What are “.gbs” and “.lfl” files?
  • These are project files. When you double-click on these files, the correct BiSS application opens and you can continue working on your design from the last saved/exported state.
  • Image of stump parameters
Can I transfer the preparation margin from exocad or 3Shape to BiSS?
  • No, marked preparation margins cannot simply be transferred.
  • Tip: The stump margin is not the same as the preparation margin. The stump margin should be minimally adjacent to or below the preparation margin. This prevents accidental cutting away of the preparation margin when the stumps are cut from the model.
What is the ORTHO application and when can I purchase it?
  • ORTHO will be an application of the BiSS Dental Software Suite that will deal exclusively with digital orthodontics. This will enable the creation of orthodontic models and retainers.
  • We do not yet have a release date for this application.
Can aligner trays be produced using a tool in your software?
  • BiSS cannot be used to plan and create aligners.
  • However, if you already have the planned scans/models, you can have simple trays created fully automatically for each of these models.

  • Yes, we offer various training options.
  • Under “Link of events”, you will find all the training courses you can book, either remotely or in person.
